F2 frontrunner Ilott misses out on 2021 Formula 1 seat Formula 2 title contender Callum Ilott has announced he will not be racing in Formula 1 next season after missing out on a seat. For 2021 the FIA Formula 2 Championship and its sister series the FIA Formula 3 Championship would actively avoid each other after a reduction to the number of rounds for each series. This was done to avoid costs, with the majority of teams in F2 also racing in F3, as well as reduce logistical costs for each series by reducing the amount of shipping required. Williams Formula 1 test driver Roy Nissany has joined DAMS to complete the FIA Formula 2 squad’s line-up for the 2021 season. The Israeli driver will team up with the top French operation for his third campaign in the F1 feeder series, having raced for Trident last year and Campos in his rookie season in 2018.
